BUSINESS CHALLENGE
- An initiative under the National Key Economics Area (NKEA), Communications, Content and Infrastructure (CCI), Entry Point Project (EPP) 6, eGovernment – Paperless Government. In line with the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS), MAMPU spearheaded the development of this project together with the National Archives of Malaysia who is an expert in a records management.
- Using cloud computing technology, DDMS 2.0 can be accessed 24/7 via internet. This technology and unique features offered by DDMS 2.0 encourage 31 ministries and agencies to come on board with 20,000 number of targeted users.
- The encouraging adoption rate by the ministries and agencies was prompted by the need for the solution based approach towards minimizing wastage of resources, increasing an accessibility, speed and transparency of the Government services.
- DDMS 2.0 is expected to be extended to the whole public sector by 2020 to ensure government records management is managed electronically in order to fulfil the objective of getting the Malaysian Government to go paperless.
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
The project was awarded on 19 November 2015 with 10 months of development/customization period to suit with the government requirement. On 1 September 2016, MAMPU being the 1st agency to be migrated to the new DDMS 2.0 followed by 34 other agenicies with MOE be the last migrated on 5 December 2016.
BUSINESS IMPACT
In 2017, MAMPU is forecasting from 30 to 40 new agencies will be introduced to DDMS 2.0 covering up to an additional of 20,000 users. This effort will contrinue till year 2020 to cover the whole of public sector.
